Before/after | Closing out our front room (Part 2)

Last month, we started the process of closing out the front room of our house to be used as an official guest room and a playroom for the girls. Last week I posted Part I of the project that detailed my struggle with choosing a paint color for the French doors.

We ended up choosing Salty Dog from Sherwin-Williams. And just like baby names, if you don’t like it, it’s absolutely fine to lie to me about what a beautiful choice you think we made.

Note: My mom called me this morning (3/31) to tell me that I hung our flag wrong. AHHH! The stars should be at the top of the observer’s left. Big OOPS. (It’s fixed now – see the photo below!) My bad, America.

Many thanks again to Sherwin-Williams for providing paint as compensation for this post. All views and opinions expressed are my own and no other compensation was provided.

  1. Smart choice. Yellow is fun, but you’d probably want to change it before too long. Blue looks great with the gray.

    1. I had second thoughts after it was all said and done but now that I’ve had a couple weeks to get used to it, I’m SO happy we chose the blue. Thanks, Rachel!

I’m intrigued by the art project boards you have hanging up next to the flag. Did you make them? Buy them? They look magnetic?!? Please elaborate. I am in desperate need of something like this.

    1. Stephanie — sorry for the delay. I made them! The black frames are old picture frames from Aaron Brothers. I removed the backing and glass. The clips are simple bulldog clips from Amazon that I hung on the wall with nails. It was easy! Let me know if you have any other questions! Here’s a link to the clips I bought: http://www.amazon.com/Sparco-Bulldog-Inches-Silver-SPR58503/dp/B004XN6HNO?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00

  3. I read your article because I saw a griff in the picture on Pinterest! Oaks looks like a great boy 🙂 Beautiful room too! We have a griff named Allie. Best breed I’ve ever owned.

    1. So happy you posted, Jodi! We’ve been spending a lot of time at the lake with him the last few weeks and he is clearly in his happy place there. It’s been so much fun and he’s terrific with all the kiddos. Enjoy your sweet Allie!
