I’ve got that week-after-Christmas hangover, where the only cure is more marshmallows. You know, when all the cookies are gone and whether or not the leftovers in the fridge are still good is a hot debate and all you really want to do is make another batch of cookies because you went crazy and bought A LOT of baking ingredients this year?
In addition to (maybe) going another round in the kitchen, here are three things I am doing this week.
#1 Store holiday cards
Today I went ahead and took down all the Christmas cards. A few years ago, I decided that if I was going to be crazy sentimental and actually save my cards that I needed to do it in a non-hoarding way. A quick hole punch to the corner plus a binder ring and voila. (In years past I used ribbon or jute which works too.) I keep all the bunches of cards in a festive little holiday box under the tree.
#2 Update our mailing list
I always seem to accumulate a nice little pile of return addresses that I have ripped from the backs or corners of holiday card envelopes. Updating my mailing list in excel takes no time – I’m not sure why I put it off. I also go through to add the names of new babies that were born and edit last names that may have changed.
#3 Record this year’s Christmas
One of my closest friends gifted me this ornament the Christmas after Jim and I became engaged. It was 2006, our first Christmas in our new house, and just the two of us. That year and every year since, I have recapped the activities, meals, travel, gifts and excitement that took place in this little ornament. It is one of my top 5 most prized possessions.
