When I started Recovering Corporate, the one thing I was most passionate about was lifting the veil we often use to cover our work-life challenges for the sake of self preservation.

To quote The Postal Service, everything looks perfect from far away and so I invite you all to come down now with me. I ask you to join me on a common level to say, nope, it’s not perfect, but this is how we’re managing through it.

This isn’t a forum for backdoor bragging or comparing our privilege. I believe in my heart that no one truly has it easy. I know everyone is fighting their own personal battle in one area of their life or another. I want this to be a space free of competition, comparison or complaining. I want this to be a space where we celebrate what’s working rather than dwell on what’s hard. (Because it’s freaking hard. That’s a given.) It’s too easy to get caught up in a depreciating downward spiral of I wish I had your problems. That’s how mommy wars begin and I want no part of such nonsense.

This is about learning from each other and gaining perspective by borrowing the lens of others and honoring their path. Everyone has a different way of living their life and somehow, we are all getting it done and getting by. What I find most beautiful is that everyone has a different approach, because the only right way is the way that works best for you and your family. I started this new series to amplify the stories and the profiles of women who I believe to be uplifting and inspiring. Women who work both in and out of the home. This is solidarity in the company of smart and strong women. This is how she does it.
