Psssst! In case you didn’t know, April is National Letter Writing Month! Yesterday, I sat down to write a couple of letters, but not in the traditional letter-writing sense.
When they were born, I set up email addresses for my daughters, Harper and Elliot. Every now and again, I’ll send them an email; a note, a funny story, a picture or sometimes, all three. I plan to give them the password eventually. Maybe when they are teenagers and claim I don’t love them? I dunno. I will when the time is right.
It’s been proven, gratitude makes you happier and healthier. Even Oprah said, “I just made gratitude a daily priority. I went through the day looking for things to be grateful for, and something always showed up.”
Yesterday, when I found myself in a bit of a mom funk, I grabbed my laptop and wrote a letter to each of them. Not knowing where to start at first, I began with what was top of mind; their behavior. But as I started typing more, those negative feelings turned into funny stories and I found myself completely amused with these little glimpses into their lives at this very moment. I sent them off, never to be seen for years to come. It was just the attitude adjustment I needed to get over and on with it.
Do you write letters to your kids? I have to remind myself that they don’t have to be beautifully poetic, they don’t have to be long, or even have a point. They just have to be written.
I love this idea! I need to start doing this for my girls too!

Thanks, Tiffany! It’s just so practical. You can send notes in between conference calls even! Ha!
