Things I’ve Googled

Hope you guys had a great Friday. Mine got a bit away from me today, so apologies for just now rounding up my weekly Things I’ve Googled post. I don’t schedule out these Friday posts that far in advance as I try to keep the topics real, honest, and topical, just how the conversation started with Jim when we first began asking each other what we Googled at the end of our days. Without further excuses, here are a few things I wanted to learn more about this week.

French marshmallows
As featured in the photo above, we’ve been super into marshmallows in our hot chocolate lately. These TJ favorites are described as tender soft French marshmallows, which got me thinking and subsequently Googling and eventually led me to this drool-worthy Momfilter post (and linked recipe!) on the subject. Has anyone ever made homemade marshmallows? Is it worth it? Did they turn out? I mean, I’m perfectly happy with Trader Joe’s.

Everything Fuller House
Ok, so I haven’t started watching Fuller House but the day isn’t over yet and in the spirit of TGIF, I feel like I owe it to the Tanners to check in. Have you watched any of the episodes yet? I’m avoiding the reviews until I get through at least the pilot. Have mercy.

Cake on the beach
You know, the DNCE song that I wash dishes to? This came up among my circle of friends this week. I for one, am notorious for belting out the wrong words to songs (Classic Rach) and misinterpreting lyrics isn’t too far behind. Apparently, “Cake on the beach” is code for, ahem, on the beach. (P.S. The 10 Most Often Butchered Song Lyrics)

Having it all sucks article
In case you missed it, I was featured over at the #mumboss podcast this week. (Yay!) The show’s amazing host, Rachel Maskell, referenced a Huffington Post article titled, Having it All Kinda Sucks. One of my closest friends needed to read it this afternoon so I quickly Googled it to get the link and text it over. I’d just like to say to her (and any other moms who may have had a cryday kinda Friday) you are an amazing woman and mother and I’m proud to be your friend.

Have a relaxing weekend, friends. No, really, let’s all take a nice breather before March knocks down our door next week. (Father time, you bastard.) <– Sorry, it’s Friday night. I’ve had wine.

Things I’ve Googled is an ongoing series and comes from one of the standard questions Jim and I ask each other when we get home. Often, it’s a good indicator of where our minds have wandered off to in the middle of the day and the topics usually make us laugh. So consider this part educational. Part oversharing. Part nonsense. Completely random.

  1. Ummmm THAT MUG!!!!! Where?? When??? I could finish, but I already know the answers to the rest of the 5 W’s AND the H…

    It’s gorge. I’m in love.

Also? I’ve made homemade ‘mallows. Not the hardest of kitchen feats, not the easiest. I used TJ’s peppermint extract to make them, duh, minty. Yeah. Nope. They were so gross that I’ve been afraid to try again. My friend Jess makes them all the time and hers are delightful. So there’s hope. The TJ’s ones are so delicious I’m going to stick with those.

    1. Amy Jo – It’s from Anthropologie in November. It is so pretty. I bought everyone a special mug to have warm Christmas drinks in and I haven’t put them away. (They were supposed to be for special occasions only.) My only gripe is they are hand wash only and because of the gold, they are non microwaveable. (Jim almost burned down our kitchen. Oops.) So you gotta get it while it’s hot because there is no reheating the Joe. The smaller ones the girls are using are from Williams Sonoma. xoxo
